Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest successes of the year, but it launched missing a few features present in Insomniac’s two prior Spidey games. The biggest omission was New Game Plus, but Insomniac assured fans it would come in an update to the game before the end of the year. Unfortunately, the developer won’t be able to hit that deadline, as it posted this update on social media yesterday.

In case the image doesn’t load, the text reads as follows:

 Hey Web-Heads,

We have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more. We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards.

We are now targeting Early 2024 for the next game update, and we’ll have a feature-complete list closer to its release. We’ve heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colors, and replay missions – just to name a few!

We can’t wait to share more with you in the future. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as our team works to finish our next update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2!

Thanks,

Insomniac Games

As the statement mentions, the update will also include other returning features, like the ability to replay missions and change the time of day, along with the option to swap symbiote tendril colors. It also mentions that a “feature-complete” list will be available closer to the update’s release, which implies there are more features Insomniac has yet to mention. Whatever the case, we’ll learn more in early 2024.
